Project Name: 2021 Collingwood Summer Music Festival
Project Description:

This application is for the marketing of “The 2021 Collingwood Summer Music Festival”, taking place July 9-16, 2021, in the 440-seat auditorium of New Life Church. The program consists of 10 concerts divided over eight days, featuring classical music varying from intimate chamber music recitals to full orchestral concerts, and world music genres. Programming includes:

1) a full orchestra to inaugurate its 2021 season, featuring the National Academy Orchestra of Canada led by Boris Brott;

2) Five youth-specific/family outreach events free of charge to the public to attract a greater number of youth to the Festival. These include a movie screening, a piano recital featuring laureates local talents; two interactive, afternoon workshops with a variety of arts and music-related activities for children of pre-school age and up, as well as those from the autism spectrum;

3) six brilliant, Indigenous artists in its programming with a specially commissioned work by Cree composer Cris Derksen;

4) three “Canadian premiere” events not found at any other festival within Canada. Each event exhibits classical music performances in exciting, new ways. Two of the concerts, “Wild Girls” and “A Women’s Love,” use a fresh, innovative approach to repertoire selection, while making extensive use of the auditorium's multimedia facilities;

5) two events featuring non-Ontario/non-Canadian-based artists. One of the events features one of Moscow’s (Russia’s) most famous, living poets – Vera Pavlova; and

(6) an art exhibition around the theme of music.
