| Project Name: | Convergence Music and Art Festival |
| Project Description: | "This application is for “Convergence Music and Art Festival”, an expanded second edition of the Festival, taking place May 3 to September 22, 2024. The Festival takes place during Oshawa's 100th Anniversary celebrations. Lead up programming titled ‘Portal to Convergence’ will take place every Friday from May 3 to September 22 at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery. It will showcase local and Canadian-based musicians while promoting the larger weekend festival that will take place from September 20 to 22. Programming details include: (1) A Street Festival on Saturday, September 21 in downtown Oshawa that will include live music, innovative artwork, a punk rock vendors market, live skateboarding demonstrations, live professional wrestling, circus performances, interactive community art displays, and the International Street Food Alley; (2) Over twenty live performances from popular Canadian and local emerging artists including Walk Off the Earth; (3) Large-scale visual art installations spread throughout the downtown core and in unexpected places curated by The Robert McLaughlin Gallery; (4) Indigenous Artwork Showcase; (5) Activations by arts and culture organizations in empty storefronts; (6) Punk Rock vendors market featuring over 50 of the region’s edgiest artisan makers; and (7) An International Street Food Alley featuring Oshawa’s finest culinary creators;" |
