Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario
Incorporated in 1987, the mandate of the Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario is to help integrate individuals of Portuguese origin into Canadian society by promoting and encouraging their cultural and historical heritage within the context of a multicultural Canada. This includes producing and promoting events that celebrate Portuguese and Canadian culture, promoting and encouraging interaction and communication between generations of Portuguese-Canadians, promoting communication and mutual cooperation between Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking organizations, and participating actively with organizations who work to better the Portuguese or Portuguese-speaking community.

Celebrations of Portuguese-Canadian Culture
This application is for "Celebrations of Portuguese-Canadian Culture", a multidisciplinary festival taking place over three weekends in Bradford, Cambridge and Toronto between June 16 and July 16, 2017. While this is an inaugural event, it is modelled on the highly successful “Portugal Week”, which the organization has been staging for almost 30 years in downtown Toronto. The following cultural programming will be repeated in each of the three cities: (1) musical performances: (i) Grammy Award winner Nelly Furtado; (ii) renowned Canadian pop/ R&B singer, songwriter Shawn Desman; (iii) Juno Award winner Keshia Chante, (iv) pop duo Menage; (v) Tyler Medeiros; (vi) Brian Melo; (vii) Sarah Pacheco; (viii) Danny Fernandes; (ix) Reno; and (x) Nelz (Nelson Medeiros); (2) Folklore Festival featuring musicians and dancers representing different regions and areas of Portugal. 9-12 groups coming from as far as Massachusetts, New Jersey and Manitoba will perform each weekend; and (3) Marching Bands. Central Azorian Islands (Azores) culture each weekend will include several local and visiting marching bands. The festivities will also include midway rides, a soccer tournament, a traditional marketplace of food and a “Youth Forum” that will include speakers, networking, workshops and information sessions on scholarships and bursaries.
