Barb Kuker is a retired educator with the Windsor Secondary School systems, whose interest in the arts began at a young age. The daughter of culturally supportive parents, she was exposed to the concerts of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and the exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Windsor. That foundation led to continued involvement in the arts
As a young mother, she became a member of the Windsor Symphony Board of Directors and as Education Director, she instituted a series of children’s concerts that mixed classical presentations with popular children’s entertainers engaging many young people in classical music.
She has been an active participant in various University of Windsor initiatives, the Chair of the Riverside Library Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Art Gallery of Windsor, and a member and chair for several years of the Windsor Symphony Board of Directors. During that tenure she was instrumental in the creation of a partnership with the City of Windsor to revitalize the historic Capitol Theatre, establishing a permanent home for the WSO.
She is currently actively involved in the Windsor Symphony Past President’s Advisory committee.
