Dr. Frédéric Dimanche is a Professor and the Director of the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Toronto Metropolitan University (Toronto, Canada).
Originally from the Loire Valley in France, he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon (USA). He then spent over 10 years at the University of New Orleans, where he earned tenure and the rank of Professor in the College of Business Administration. He was also for a few years the Research Director of The Olinger Group, a full-service marketing research firm in New Orleans. He then joined SKEMA Business School (France) as a professor of marketing to create and develop the Center for Tourism Management on the French Riviera. He launched master’s programs in tourism, event, and hospitality management that are taught in English and that attract students from all over the world. Frédéric has published numerous tourism-related research articles and book chapters and co-authored one book (in French) on hospitality management and one (in English) on tourism management in Russia. He has contributed as a guest lecturer or consultant to universities, private companies, and national or regional tourism organizations in France, the USA, and other countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
He joined Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2015 to lead the premier Canadian hospitality and tourism management program. Since 2019, the school has been listed among the top Hospitality and Tourism Management programs in the Academic Ranking of World Universities. In Toronto, he worked on projects with Ontario Culture Days, served on the planning committee and the Board of Governors of the Université de l’Ontario français, and sits on the inaugural Advisory Board of Magnet. He is a past President of the Travel and Tourism Research Association Europe and an elected fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism. Frédéric is passionate about tourism and about what makes destinations competitive and successful.
