Incorporated in 2005, the Canadian Community Arts Initiative is registered as a not-for-profit organization with a focus on the presentation of high impact arts and cultural events. CCAI's primary objective is to promote healthy and active communities through celebration of their art and culture. Projects are inclusive, intended to inspire cross cultural dialogue and promote a sense of pride in citizenship for local residents and generate tourism. CCAI presents various projects across many disciplines to support its objectives, including the long running Mosaic festival, a free South Asian multidisciplinary arts festival in the heart of Mississauga.

Project Name: Mosaic Festival’s 20th Anniversary
Project Description:

This application is for the “Mosaic Festival’s 20th Anniversary”, taking place August 1 and 2, 2025 at Mississauga Celebration Square and the Living Arts Centre. This 20th Edition of the Mosaic Festival of South Asian art and culture is a free, live summer outdoor festival that includes music, art, dance, visual art and literature presented in collaboration with Mississauga Tourism. Programming includes:

(1) 14 hours of mainstage live programming including music, dance, comedy, spoken word and visual arts at the Celebration square;

(2) a festival line up of approximately 150 individual artists and performers;

(3) headlining act by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, the Rockstar Ustad (Maestro) 6th generation of the Patiala Gharana (family);

(4) exhibition of artworks by 20+ local professional artists during the festival;

(5) Bollywood Dance School Toronto’s presentation of a special 20th anniversary show;

(6) full concert by Archi J., AKA the Snake Charmer, a local bag piper winner of Best performer at the Mississauga Music Awards; and

(7) “The Rising Star” program which will register up to 150 local artists and invite up to 25 others for in-camera auditions (ten of the finalists will perform on Saturday evening and the finalist will perform with Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan on main stage at prime time in front of an audience of over 15,000).
