Event Details

Guild Festival Theatre is Scarborough’s only professional theatre company. Since 2011, GFT has been presenting contemporary takes on theatre classics at the iconic Greek Theatre in Guild Park & Gardens. Through its programming of plays, concerts, and special events throughout July and August, GFT is committed to expanding the conventional definition of theatre classics by highlighting stories and artists that reflect the diverse, multicultural communities of Scarborough. GFT has been honoured with numerous awards and commendations including “Best Live Theatre” (Scarborough Mirror), 2017 OAC Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts (nomination), the Urban Hero Award (Metroland Media), the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Award, the King Charles III Coronation Medal, and 2 Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

This application is for “Timeless Transformations”, taking place July 3 to August 24, 2025, at the Guild Park & Gardens in Scarborough featuring over 60 performances and events. Programming includes:

(1) Mainstage Season featuring "The 39 Steps" (a fast-paced Hitchcock-inspired comedy) and the world premiere of "Heratio" (a bold reimagining of Hamlet);

(2) expanded programming introducing a two-day multidisciplinary event: "Guild Alive with Culture Arts Festival";

(3) high-profile season launch showcasing Scarborough’s arts & culture;

(4) "Family Fest", offering free performances and interactive arts experiences for young audiences; and

(5) "Guild Alive with Culture", presenting an outdoor marketplace, live music, and community-driven artistic experiences.
