Incorporated in 2018, the Collingwood Summer Music Festival (CSMF) is an annual, family-friendly, classical music festival bringing high-calibre, live music performances to the Collingwood region. During CSMF’s inaugural year in 2019, the Festival attracted between 80 to 400 audience members per concert, averaging 110 attendees per concert and 900 patrons overall, during the course of the Festival’s eight ticketed performance events.

This application is for “The 2023 Collingwood Music Festival - Music for Collingwood”, taking place in multiple venues in Collingwood, July 5 to 15, 2023.

The 2023 Festival will include several new outdoor venues featuring youth workshops, family-fun concerts, large-scale concerts, and an indoor concert series. The CMF will present over 150 performing artists at the acoustically-appealing First Presbyterian Church located in Collingwood’s downtown core and at Millennium Park, which can accommodate 1000+ visitors. Eight concerts held over eight days will feature classical, jazz, world, indigenous and folk music genres, with additional free events being offered for youth at Duntroon Golf Highlands House on July 5.

The concerts vary from intimate chamber music recitals to large-scale orchestral and choral concerts. The program consists of eight concerts divided over eight days, featuring classical music and world music genres varying from intimate chamber music recitals to full orchestral concerts.

Programming highlights include: 1) 5 July (Duntroon Golf Highlands House): Youth Day activities with Eric Cadesky, Muckpaloo Ipeelie, Lara Heaton, and Bambalamb Kidd - including an afternoon drumming workshop; 2) 8 July (Millennium Overlook Park): Inaugural Concert with Jeremy Dutcher and the National Academy Orchestra led by Maestro Alain Trudel; 3) 9 July (First Presbyterian Church): “Stories of the Underground Railroad” with the Toronto Mass Gospel Choir; 4) 10 July (First Presbyterian Church): a fun family event with the Dévah Quartet, an electric string quartet with drums; 5) 11 July (First Presbyterian Church): “A Classical & Jazz Jam” with Peter Stoll and Daniel Vnukowski. 7) 12 July (Collingwood Amphitheatre): “New Tradition Music” with Beny Esguerra; 8) 13 July (First Presbyterian Church): “RITUÆLS” with the Montreal-based ensemble collectif9; 9) 14 July (First Presbyterian Church): “For the End of Time” with the Gryphon Trio, James Campbell, Daniel Vnukowski; 10) 15 July (First Presbyterian Church): “Mad About the Boys!” with the Adi Braun Trio.
