Nom de l'organisme Cameco Capitol Arts Theatre
Description de l'organisme

Incorporated in 1993, the Capitol Theatre Heritage Foundation is committed to producing and presenting high-quality professional theatre, live music, film, and other special events in historic Port Hope, while also providing a home for the local arts community. The Capitol Theatre, designated as a National Historic Site in 2016, debuted in 1930 as a premium Canadian entertainment venue. The Capitol is exceptionally well preserved with much of its original exterior and interior detail intact after eighty years of almost continuous operation. As one of the last remaining North American examples of an “atmospheric” theatre space, the Capitol is an outstanding illustration of the era of its origins. In 2003 The Theatre Foundation board purchased the neighbouring property on Queen Street and expanded the theatre site which includes two theatres: the 380-seat historic atmospheric theatre, and the 100 seat A.K. and Bob Sculthorpe Studio Theatre.
