The Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TO DO) is the largest cultural celebration of design in Canada, with over 80 events and exhibitions taking place across the city of Toronto.

TO DO transforms Toronto into a hub for creativity by taking design and art out of the studio and into the urban sphere, bringing people together to celebrate arts and culture. They provide opportunities for emerging talent, and engage the community with exceptional and accessible public programming.

Projet Design TO Evolution 2.0
Description du projet

This application is for the “DesignTO Evolution 2.0”, taking place January 16 to 25, 2026, in downtown Toronto. Programming includes:

(1) “Festival Platform” (over 100 projects from 500+ creators, featuring window installations, exhibits, and free-access events);

(2) “Signature Projects”: (i) Harbourfront Centre Launch, the only ticketed event; (ii) “Thematic Exhibition” at Harbourfront Centre, this exhibit features the work of 8-15 designers and artists with overarching themes of sustainability, social justice, innovation and joy; (ii) “Youth Exhibition” that enables 50 budding artists to deep-dive into art intricacies, leading to the display of their work at the Festival; (iii) “Prototype”, an immersive experience into the world of translucency; (iv) “Yonge + St Clair Installations”, seven installations in local lobbies, with a curated tour, in collaboration with the BIA; (vi) King East Design District Installations that features 10 installations and a spirited neighbourhood celebration; and (vii) “Trinity Bellwoods BIA Collaboration”, featuring 10 neighbourhood installations and a guided walking tour;

(3) Festival Designer Showcase (new): Featuring the work of over 50 local and international designers and generating early-year earned revenue through exhibition contribution fees;

(4) DesignTO Prize Gala (new): A new prize program which honours craftspeople, artists, and designers in several categories, featuring a Prize Gala during the Festival, generating early-year earned revenue from submission fees; and

(5) Design Showroom Tours (new): Bus tours, and talks at design showrooms in the Castlefield design district offer shopping opportunities to tourists and generate early-year earned revenue from increased showroom registration fees.
