Our mission, simply stated, is to be recognized internationally as the leading interpreter of period opera and to shake off the preconceptions about “period production” by re-imagining and revitalizing the great works of the entire operatic canon. We are committed to promoting this art form and Canadian artists within Canada and around the world and tour extensively to support this goal.

This application is for “Opera Atelier’s 40th Anniversary”, taking place March 9, 2025 to October 25, 2025 in venues across the greater Toronto area. Programming details include:

(1) OA’s production of David and Jonathan which incorporates: (i) a special event in partnership with Toronto’s Holy Blossom Temple; (ii) a partnership with the ROM for a series of special performances; (iii) Making Of An Opera (MOAO) for in the GTA and Hamilton; and (iv) collaboration with the Canadian Opera Company’s Lunchtime Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre.

(2) OA’s restaging of Mozart's The Magic Flute which incorporates: (i) the City of Toronto’s Doors Open program; (ii) Market Street performances hosted by the St. Lawrence Market BIA; (iii) collaboration with the Canadian Opera Company’s Lunchtime Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre; and (iv) Making Of An Opera (MOAO).
