Formerly known as The Bach Music Festival of Canada, the Huron Waves Music Festival is a new festival that will showcase both Canadian and visiting international artists in an annual springtime music festival at a variety of venues in Grand Bend, Exeter and other nearby communities in Huron County. Programming will be coordinated by Artistic Advisor John Miller, the recently retired founder of Stratford Summer Music. The Festival program will comprise a variety of musical styles from jazz, big band, vocal, classical to contemporary. The Festival will also offer programs in area schools to benefit students, and professional development opportunities for area musicians.

Projet Discovery Through Music

This application is for “Discovery Through Music”, taking place June 1 to 21, 2025 in the Trivitt Memorial Church auditorium in Exeter as well as at a variety of satellite locations. Programming includes:

(1) INUK “Discovering Our History, the Story of Canada’s Inuk People”: a public workshop developed by singer/songwriter Susan Aglukark, presented on National Indigenous Peoples Day;;

(2) “Discovering a Great Canadian Musician”: In celebration of jazz legend Oscar Peterson’s 100th birthday, jazz musician Thompson Ego-Egbo will present the music and the story from throughout Peterson’s seven-decade career; and

(3) “Discovering Nature”: Inspired by botanist/author, Diane Beresford-Kroeger, this series presents music by Frank Horvat, plus visuals of seven Canadian tree species. Located at Morrison Dam near Exeter, Trees.Listen offers opportunities for indoor and outdoor activities on June 13 and 14.
